Changelog 84: VCMC 5 Years Update

Updates and New Features:

• Thank you to everyone who participated in the 5th anniversary event! Podium prizes have been distributed as of April 2.

• Moderator and Builder applications are OPEN!
  
  • Mod. Requirements: Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application, must have a working microphone, must have a linked Discord account.
    • Recommended 2 months of experience on VCMC
    • Bonus: Prior experience as staff on a server (must have a valid IP and/or website on hand, server does not have to be currently active)
  • Builder Requirements: Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application, must have a working microphone, must have a linked Discord account.
    • Recommended to have experience with WorldEdit and/or WorldPainter
    • Have at least 3 builds you've done in the past on hand. You will need to showcase them.

• Lag reduction is now fully automated! The following actions will be taken when the online player count is greater than 30:
  • Mob spawning will be disabled (natural and spawner mobs).
  • Proximity voice chat will be disabled for all players below Netherite rank. Staff will still be able to use their voice chat.
  • Server view/render distance will be reduced to 6 chunks (currently does not work correctly, will fix soon).
  • All actions above will be reverted when the player count returns to 30 or below.
• NEW: Claim blocks can now be obtained as a voting reward! Each vote will earn you 10 claim blocks, which will accumulate over time. Any claim blocks earned will be distributed at the following milestones: 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 10000, and every 5000 total votes thereafter.
• We are aware of the teleport invincibility cooldown bug and are working on a fix. For now, any players who abuse the invincibility cooldown (i.e., instant crystal on teleport) will be punished under the exploits rule.
• 1.21.5 Update: Expect an update in 4-6 weeks, depending on how fast plugin devs update their plugins.
• Server will be moved to a new location soon (hopefully) with better internet! More details TBA.

Removed:

• AutoReconnect will become a prohibited mod after March 31, 2025.
• The ability to shift and unsit/lay is still removed due to block glitching.
• Chunks unmodified since October 30, 2024, will be purged after the next End reset (4/30).
  • We will continue removing chunks older than (unmodified for) 6 months/180 days to save disk space.
• On the Discord, the ability to create "General Support" tickets has been removed due to abuse/spam. For all issues, please use /helpop in-game when staff are online BEFORE going to tickets.

Changelog 83: January Updates

Updates and New Features:

• Fixed issue where Netherite players could not use certain colors on signs/nicks.
• Texture pack reworked for 1.21.4! New rank colors are coming soon...
• Anvil "Too Expensive!" limit patched once again.
• 1.21.4 Update: Server and proxy have been updated.
  • Spawner plugin was replaced w/ a different one due to incompatibilities and lack of support.
  • Simple Voice Chat version bumped to 2.5.27. Make sure to update it to continue using proximity voice chat!
• Server Discord rework still in progress (mainly staff and channel permissions).

Removed:

• Removed support for 1.20.5 and below. The recommended versions for this server are 1.21.4 and 1.21.3. You may still join w/ 1.20.6-1.21.2, but certain features will not be available/properly implemented.
  • Any loss of items due to old version usage (1.21.2 and below) will NOT be restored!

Developer apps have been opened as well! 

Requirements are the same as those of moderators, but Developers must also be 16 years of age at the time of application.

We COULD do that if enough ppl want it (though I personally prefer having the money in my hand).

Not saying I'll 100% do it bc I kinda want the server to stay as vanilla as possible (we alr ahve a ton of plugins for all the things you see).

Changelog 82: End of 2024 Updates

Updates and New Features:

• Christmas Event: See the announcement on Discord for more details. Multiple events will be hosted starting this Friday, Dec. 20th to the 22nd.
  • Note: The entire event will be hosted on a SEPARATE server! Please use the NPC to the right of spawn to join OR directly connect w/ the IP: event.voicechatmc.net:25058
• Player Shops: New shops are open by the lagoon (near the castle)! If player shops by the main dock are all occupied, you now have 10 more rentable shops! (Nov. 2024)
• Due to limited shop/storage space, custom disc requests have been temporarily paused. We hope to be able to accept them again soon!
  • Player-recorded songs: Due to increasing amounts of private, limited-edition disc requests, we are considering a ban on these in the future (or at least a SIGNIFICANT increase in cost per disc). Disc requests were originally meant for discs to be added to the official music shop at spawn.
• Fixed issue where ranked players could not use colors on anvils.
• Fixed vote sites under /vote! Unfortunately, a couple sites have gone down since the last time we updated these, but your vote will still process on the remaining ones.
• /rtp cooldown reduced from 4 hours to 2 hours.
• 1.21.4 Update: We plan on completing this sometime between 12/23 and 12/30.
  • Major plugin update was completed on 12/19 to prepare for this update.
• Server Discord rework currently in progress (mainly staff and channel permissions). This should be completed before the end of the year.
  • Staff: See #staff-announcements for more details.

Removed:

• Anvil level override plugin still doesn't work due to 1.21 incompatibilities. You will encounter the normal "Too Expensive!" message above 40 levels.
• Chunks unmodified since June 30, 2024, will be purged after the last 2024 End reset (12/30).
  • We will continue removing chunks older than (unmodified for) 6 months/180 days to save disk space.
