Changelog 84: VCMC 5 Years Update

Updates and New Features:

• Thank you to everyone who participated in the 5th anniversary event! Podium prizes have been distributed as of April 2.
• Our new build team has completed the NEW staff hall! Check it out under the first floor of the castle.

• Moderator and Builder applications are OPEN!
  
  • Mod. Requirements: Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application, must have a working microphone, must have a linked Discord account.
    • Recommended 2 months of experience on VCMC
    • Bonus: Prior experience as staff on a server (must have a valid IP and/or website on hand, server does not have to be currently active)
  • Builder Requirements: Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application, must have a working microphone, must have a linked Discord account.
    • Recommended to have experience with WorldEdit and/or WorldPainter
    • Have at least 3 builds you've done in the past on hand. You will need to showcase them.

• Lag reduction is now fully automated! The following actions will be taken when the online player count is greater than 30:
  • Mob spawning will be disabled (natural and spawner mobs).
  • Proximity voice chat will be disabled for all players below Netherite rank. Staff will still be able to use their voice chat.
  • Server view/render distance will be reduced to 6 chunks (currently does not work correctly, will fix soon).
  • All actions above will be reverted when the player count returns to 30 or below.
• NEW: Claim blocks can now be obtained as a voting reward! Each vote will earn you 10 claim blocks, which will accumulate over time. Any claim blocks earned will be distributed at the following milestones: 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 10000, and every 5000 total votes thereafter.
• We are aware of the teleport invincibility cooldown bug and are working on a fix. For now, any players who abuse the invincibility cooldown (i.e., instant crystal on teleport) will be punished under the exploits rule.
• 1.21.5 Update: Expect an update in 4-6 weeks, depending on how fast plugin devs update their plugins.
• Server will be moved to a new location soon (hopefully) with better internet! More details TBA.

Removed:

• AutoReconnect will become a prohibited mod after March 31, 2025.
• The ability to shift and unsit/lay is still removed due to block glitching.
• Chunks unmodified since October 30, 2024, will be purged after the next End reset (4/30).
  • We will continue removing chunks older than (unmodified for) 6 months/180 days to save disk space.
• On the Discord, the ability to create "General Support" tickets has been removed due to abuse/spam. For all issues, please use /helpop in-game when staff are online BEFORE going to tickets.
